ANDY COHEN AND GIULIANA RANCIC WILL BE THE HOSTS FOR THE 2012 MISS UNIVERSE® COMPETITION

For the first time ever, the Miss Universe telecast is part of NBC’s holiday line-up
NEW YORK, NY – October 23, 2012 – Donald J. Trump, NBCUniversal and Miss Universe President Paula M. Shugart,
announced today that Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” and Giuliana Rancic, co-anchor of “E! News,” will
host the 61st Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition airing live on December 19, 2012 (US TIME) from PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The glamorous live event will air on NBC at 8 p.m. ET in the United States with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.

NOTE: It will be Aired LIVE in the Philippines on Dec 20, 2012 only on ABS CBN

Returning as host of Miss Universe, Andy Cohen is the host and executive producer of “Watch What Happens Live,” Bravo’s late night, interactive talk show that features guests from some of Bravo’s most popular series, as well as from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture. He is also the executive vice president of development and talent for Bravo where he oversees the development and production of more than two dozen shows such as “Top Chef,” “The Real Housewives” franchises and “The Millionaire Matchmaker.”

 

 

Giuliana Rancic is an anchor of “E! News” and co-host of E!’s hugely popular “Fashion Police.” She is also the executive producer/star of her hit Style Network reality show, “Giuliana & Bill.” Rancic can also be seen co-hosting E!’s “Live From the Red Carpet” coverage of events such as the Golden Globes. While she has twice hosted the Miss USA competition, this marks the first time she hosts Miss Universe.

 
Located along the Las Vegas Strip, the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is the newest member of Caesars Entertainment offering guests nearly three acres of casino entertainment. Almost 90 contestants from around the world will land at the hotel and spend nearly three weeks participating in various activities leading up to the telecast. They will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2012. Angolan-beauty Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour telecast. The Miss Universe telecast is televised in approximately 190 countries and was the #1 social media trending topic during last year’s telecast. More than 1 billion viewers worldwide are expected to tune in for the live event.

PHILIPPINES AND CHILE WIN THE 20TH EDITION OF L’ORÉAL BRANDSTORM

  

Clichy, 15 June 2012 – For the second time in 20 years, the L’Oréal Brandstorm championship title was a draw between two countries – Philippines and Chile. Team Brand Up from the University of Chile and Team Eves from the University of the Philippines were crowned the Brandstorm 2012 winners out of 36 teams representing 43 countries, announced L’Oréal, the world leader in cosmetics, following the final leg of the international competition held in Paris last evening. Both the student teams walked away with the prize of a trip to a city of their choice worth €10,000. 3rd place went to Team Alemela from Austria, while Belgium, represented by Team 5th Element, earned the Best Communications Campaign Prize. The People Choice Award, a new prize voted by fans of the competing teams on Facebook, was also presented to Team Eves from the Philippines who garnered almost 13,000 “Likes” in 2 weeks.

 

20 years of turning ideas into products

Responding to students’ desire to gain hands-on professional experience, L’Oréal pioneered this innovative marketing competition 20 years ago which allows young talents from around the world to put themselves in the shoes of an International Brand Manager. Every year, Brandstorm challenges teams of three undergraduates to unleash their creativity to propose a product or service launch for one of L’Oréal’s 27 international brands in line with the latest market developments and trends.

 

For this landmark edition, teams were invited to create a new iconic product or product range for The Body Shop while respecting the brand’s values in order to reflect the Group’s commitment to ethical beauty. With digital communication becoming increasingly indispensible in today’s marketplace, one of the challenges to students was to incorporate this aspect in their strategy. A record 8,249 registrations were received this year, bringing the total number of participants to more than 60,000 from 280 partner universities around the world to date.

 

During this exciting 6-month journey, from the national to international level, teams get to work closely with L’Oréal executives, gaining extensive professional guidance. This year, students who made it to the finals also got to interact with a prestigious jury headed by Marc Menesguen, Executive Vice-President, Strategic Marketing, L’Oreal; Sophie Gasperment, Executive Chairman, The Body Shop; Jérome Tixier, Executive Vice-President, Human Resources, L’Oreal; Ann Massal, International Brand Director, The Body Shop and Trefor Thomas, Partner and Creative Director, Brand Advocate.

 

Spotting the best talents

Brandstorm is also an innovative recruitment tool for L’Oréal, allowing the Group to identify the best talents in marketing from around the world while giving students a chance to discover careers within the Group. Every year, between 150 to 200 students are recruited via Brandstorm, many of whom have gone on to have thriving careers. Examples of careers at the international level are:

Ayala Land Premier has plans underway for its newest luxury project at One Bonifacio High Street with the 63 story tower residential The Suites.

Binibining Pilipinas 2012 holds Press Presentation at the Genting Club

 

 

Being the summit of all beauty pageants in the country, it was only fitting that the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Press Presentation be held at Resorts World Manila’s luxurious lifestyle lounge, the Genting Club.

With seeming electric energy, thirty of the loveliest young Filipinas from all around the country and the globe displayed their stunning beauty in front of flashing cameras and the scrutinizing eyes of the media, sponsors and beauty connoisseurs.  Each of the girls’ faces was aglow with radiance and audience lapped it all up.

The Press Presentation is just one many activities that have been keeping the candidates busy until the coronation night on April 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The girls are a merry mix of beauty pageant neophytes and veterans, students and professionals, globe-trotting urbanites and country lasses. Initial interviews however, show that there is a common inspiration among the ladies. They all want to duplicate or even improve on the back-to-back impressive top five finishes of Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup in years 2010 and 2011 respectively.

The candidates have been undergoing intensive training in speech and personality development, hair and make-up, television and projection workshops conducted by experts such as media personality and premier host Boy Abunda. On the other hand, the reigning queens Ms. Universe Philippines Shamcey Supsup, Bb. Pilipinas International Dianne Necio and Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Isabella Manjon have been very much involved in the girls’ training and promotions.

Two weeks ago, the girls regaled shoppers at the New Ali Mall with their diverse talents. The winner of the talent show will be announced during pageant night. Last year, it was Shamcey Supsup who won with her 3-minute charcoal sketch of a Mother and Child. Next week, on March 17, the candidates will sashay in their fashionista best during a Fashion Show to be held at the New Ali Mall.

As the Bb. Pilipinas is a pageant that goes beyond beauty, one of the exciting activities this year include an Operation Smile mission. Ms. Universe Philippines 2011 Shamcey Supsup has been hailed as Smile Ambassador of Ms. Universe and Operation Smile Philippines which incidentally are celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. On March 22 to 24, Shamcey, Dianne, Isabella and the candidates will be assisting in the Operation Smile mission at the Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila.  Operation Smile is a private, not-for-profit volunteer medical services organization that provides reconstructive surgery and related health care to indigent children and young adults. Four in the roster of candidates are medical professionals while Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2011 Isabella Manjon is a registered nurse.

The public will have another chance to see the ladies when they have the Grand Parade of Beauties on March 25. The parade will traverse the areas around the Araneta Center.

The Bb. Pilipinas 2012 is presented by the Araneta Center, ABS-CBN and Unilever in cooperation with Nestle Fitnesse, Nestle Yoghurt and Avon.  Major sponsors are the Department of Tourism, Pizza Hut, Megaworld Corporation, Philippine Airlines, Resorts World and the Manila Bulletin.
